Reliance Jio announced its Buy One Get One Free offer earlier this month, giving users 5GB of free data with a recharge of Rs. 303, and 10GB data free at Rs. 499. The offer was initially said to be valid for one month, but new plans have come to light that will let Jio users enjoy up to 10GB data per month for a whole year instead of just a month. As you already know, while signing up for Jio Prime membership, customers can recharge their accounts for Rs. 303 or Rs. 499 with validity of 28 days to get the free data for one month. But there are other Jio Prime plans, where if you do a recharge of Rs. 3,636, you will get 60GB of data with validity of 336 days (effectively 11 months or 12 recharge cycles). With this recharge option, Reliance Jio is giving customers 5GB of data every 28 days on top of the 28GB they will get as Jio Prime members. Similarly, a Rs. 5,988 recharge will give you 10GB free 4G data per 28 days (above the 56GB you will get anyway) for 12 recharge cycles – or ...

WhatsApp to bring back text status updates to Android soon

Image
After facing some backlash from users, WhatsApp is bringing back the text statuses that had been part of the app since its beginning. According to a report from TechCrunch, the change has already available in the beta version of WhatsApp. It will be added to the Android app next week and will come soon to iPhone. The About Status feature allows users to set a text Status that other people can view either opening a contact entry or starting a chat thread. This feature was removed when Facebook announced that it would be adding its “stories” feature to the app. In a statement to TechCrunch, WhatsApp explains: “We heard from our users that people missed the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we’ve integrated this feature into the ‘About’ section in profile settings. Now, the update will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info. “At the same time, we’re continuing to build on the ...

Moto G5 Plus Review

Image
Moto G5 Plus Review:  user experience The Motorola brand has had a rough few years, fading from consumer memory, only to make a comeback under Lenovo’s brand umbrella. Despite having some trouble adapting to the changing times, the company is starting to catch up. They have had mixed reactions, with the wild success of the Moto E and G series, but a less-than-stellar reception to the Moto Z phones with their modular approach. This year, the highlight of Motorola’s Mobile World Congress show was the Moto G5 and the G5 Plus. The two phones suffered extensive leaks prior to their announcements and given the success the Moto G4 family had in India, the excitement around every leak of the phones is understandable. With a looming threat from Nokia and tough competition from various Chinese manufacturers in the mid-range segment, Motorola has had its work cut out for them and the company knows it We have had the Motorola G5 Plus for some time now, testing and using it as our prima...

Aadhaar Required to Book Train Tickets Online will be soon

Image
The Railways will soon move towards Aadhaar-based online ticketing system to prevent touts from blocking a bulk of tickets, end fraudulent bookings and curb cases of impersonation. Aadhaar number has been made mandatory for senior citizens to avail concessions in train tickets from April 1. A three-month trial run for this is going on. As per the new business plan 2017-18, unveiled by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday, besides the Aadhaar-based ticketing system, the Railways will move towards cashless ticketing system by installing 6,000 point-of-sale machines and 1,000 automatic ticket vending machines across the country. An integrated ticketing app will also be launched by May to promote cashless transaction. “Aadhaar number will be required for one-time registration at the IRCTC ticketing site. The step is aimed at eliminating touts from registering with fake identities,” a senior Railway Ministry official said, adding the Railways is preparing a software for the ...

Nokia's first Android smartphone is an all-metal mid-ranger

Image
Nokia's (or rather HMD Global's) first Android-based smartphone is called simply the Nokia 6, and it will be available for buying sometime in early 2017. There is a catch, however. The Nokia 6, announced by HMD Global on Sunday, will be initially available for buying for 1699 CNY (roughly Rs 16,739) in China only, with no word on global availability and pricing for now. But, the bigger point to note here is that Nokia is back. There was -- previously -- no estimated time frame around which Nokia would launch its smartphones. Although, reports had hinted that Android-based Nokia phones would be released some time in Q2 2017. The Nokia 6, it seems, would be hitting the market (albeit, just in China) sooner than one would have anticipated. Surprisingly, HMD Global did not take the global stage at CES to unveil Nokia's new smartphone. It, instead, decided to announce it rather silently which means global media is still to get their hands on a functional unit. The company has...
